Magical Realism

Although our trailer comes under the Drama/ Fantasy Genre, it could also be considered to be of the magical realism genre.

Magical Realism, despite being largely a literary genre, is also a genre of art and film.  It is a genre where magical or supernatural elements become part of a realistic or mundane narrative.

An example of magical realism in a story is when a character is seen to be alive beyond the normal length of life, which is subtly shown through the character being present in many generations.
However on the surface of the story there are no clear magical attributes, and everything is seen in a realistic setting, but such a character or event breaks the rules of our world.

Magical Realsim, therefore fits into our film as the narrative of our trailer follows the magical and surrealist life of a girl in the normal world.

Examples of Magical Realism Films:

Amélie

Plot:

Amélie an innocent and naïve girl in Paris, with her own sense of justice, decides to help those around her and along the way, discovers love.

The Green Mile

Plot:
The lives of guards on Death Row are affected by one of their charges: a black man accused of child murder and rape, yet who has a mysterious gift.

Midnight in Paris

Plot:
While on a trip to Paris with his fiancée's family, a nostalgic screenwriter finds himself mysteriously going back to the 1920s every day at midnight.
