When researching movies of the genre of our trailer, Fantasy Drama, we often found that the music was mainly atmospheric to create emotion and effect. The type of music that was used in these trailers to create pathos is typically classical music, with modern instruments such as synthesisers to add the atmospheric effect.
Examples of this are seen in 'The Tree of Life' trailer.
The trailer for 'Another Earth' again features atmospherical effects, but instead includes lyrical music, but again uses classical instruments, such as the piano, in order to create slow tempo music, which builds up as the action in the video increases. The actual music the trailer uses is by The Cinematic Orchestra - To Build a Home
A lot of the music by The Cinematic Orchestra fits the conventions of the score of our chosen genre, Fantasy Drama. For example The Arrival of the Birds.
In the 'The Lovely Bones', similar music to the one featured in 'Another Earth' is seen in the soundtrack for the film, although both feature lyrics, I think that replicating the instrumental parts of the songs without the lyrics would effectively portray the 'other-worldly' and heavenly aspect of our trailer and plotline.
